In case you happen to misplace your baggage/luggage or your belongings in the terminal at Tribhuvan International Airport, please do not worry. For all unclaimed passenger’s baggage/luggage found in departure airline check-in, immigration and security check-in areas (except arrival immigration and Customs area) all the agencies at the airport are expected to deposit that baggage/luggage under the Lost & Found property through the Terminal Duty Office. The baggage/luggage are deposited after duly recording the description, date and time of deposition and the depositor’s signature. All unclaimed items will be kept in Lost & Found unit for a period of 2 months, after which it will be handed over to Customs as per prevailing law. It can be claimed by the passenger or by someone who is authorized by the passenger between office time on Sunday to Thursday from 1000 to 1700 hours and on Friday 1000 to 1500 hours (Except Saturday and public holidays). All perishable items including liquids will be kept in safe custody up to 24 hours or expiry date whichever is earlier and then disposed-off under the approval of concerned authority. All flammable and dangerous goods (DG) items will not be kept in the Lost & Found unit, and flammable goods will be disposed-off within 12 hrs.


Baggage handling and delivery at Tribhuvan International Airport is a responsibility of airlines from the point of check-in to the point of collection at destination airport. If anything is left on an aircraft, respective airlines should be contacted immediately.


Note: All travelling passengers are requested not to carry any undeclared valuable items in their luggages and baggages. For declaration of valuable items, please contact Customs office located in the airline check-in area Block-B side.


Procedure for Claiming Lost Items

It is very important to return the lost items to the rightful owner. Therefore, lost items may be claimed on producing the following documents:

  • Copy of Boarding Card.
  • Details of the items being claimed.
  • An authorization letter is to be filled out and signed by the owner with details of the items being claimed. Photo ID card of the person who has been authorized to collect the item(s). Government-authorized Photo ID/ Passport / Driving License / Voter ID Card (any ID as applicable).
